Alcohol - Draft Regional Strategy
The goal of the Regional Alchohol Strategy is to minimise alcohol-related harm to individuals, families, businesses, and the community.

The draft strategy has been developed by a working party comprising members from key agencies involved in alcohol harm reduction including the Police, District Licensing Agencies, Public Health, Nelson Alcohol and Drug Service, Health Action Nelson, Hospitality Association of NZ, and Te Korowai Trust. Many other agencies and community groups were also involved in the formative discussions. The joint Nelson City and Tasman District Councils’ strategy opened for consultation on Friday 24 February.

Dangerous Buildings Policy
Section 131 of the Building Act 2004 (“the Act”) requires all territorial authorities (“TAs”) to adopt a policy on earthquake-prone, dangerous, and insanitary buildings by 31 May 2006. This policy must be adopted in accordance with section 83 and 89 of the Local Government Act 2002. Section 83 sets out the special consultative procedure, particularly the requirement as to the preparation of a Statement of Proposal, and section 89 sets out the requirements for a Summary of Information, both of which are prepared for the purposes of public consultation.
