Camping grounds and policies
 
Tasman District Council owns four camping grounds throughout the District as well as a number of reserves on which camping is allowed. The camping grounds are all run under lease by private contractors.

Carpooling has just got easier
 
There are many reasons why car pooling is a great idea – from saving you money, reducing traffic congestion, being environmentally friendly and getting to know others who live or work near you.

Civil Defence and Emergency Management
 
Council has a joint Civil Defence and Emergency Management plan with the Nelson City Council. This plan focuses equally on all aspects of Emergency Management, known as the four Rs - Readiness, Reduction, Response and Recovery.

Consents
 
There are a wide range of activities you may wish to undertake in Tasman which have certain legal requirements attached. To carry them out you need a resource consent. A consent is approval from the Council to undertake some activity. It is sometimes called a permit, registration or licence. To obtain a consent you make an application to Council on the appropriate form, which you can obtain from the Council here.

Council Cottages
 
Council owns 97 housing units around the District. They are located in Richmond, Brightwater, Wakefield, Murchison, Motueka and Takaka. Eligibility is determined by Council's set criteria.

Dog Control and Registration Information
 
All dogs within the District must be kept under effective control at all times, be registered and be properly cared for.

Dogs must be kept on a leash in, or adjacent to, all urban areas and also in the presence of endangered birds. The only areas where dogs may run free are in Dog Exercise Areas. Contact your local council office to find out where your nearest Dog Exercise Area is.
