Emergency management plan

Council has a joint Civil Defence and Emergency Management Plan with the Nelson City Council. This plan focuses equally on all aspects of emergency management, known as The four Rs - Readiness, Reduction, Response, and Recovery.

Council operates a 24 hour emergency phone service - just call your regular local office number and you will be connected to the emergency service.

FREE copies of the Nelson/Tasman Emergency Guide are available at both Nelson City Council and Tasman District Council. Further information can be found through the links at the bottom of this page.

For all general enquires contact the CDEM Manager at Nelson City Council, ph. 03 5469500.

Check out the Ministry of Civil Defence and Emergency Management and the Ministry of Health websites to find out how to get prepared for civil emergencies.

The new Civil Defence Emergency Management national education programme, Get Ready Get Thru, aims to get New Zealanders better prepared for disasters. Find out more at their website.
