Council is empowered by the Local Government Act 2002, the Health Act 1956 and the Rating Powers Act 1988 to make Bylaws.
The Tasman District Council Water Supply Bylaw 2008 has been developed to incorporate both urban and rural water supplies and will define:
a) The levels of service under which Council supplies water to customers.
b) Customers' responsibilities.
c) Where a customer’s connection can be located and the point of supply.
d) Who can take water from Council’s reticulated network and how that water can be taken and accounted for.
e) Backflow prevention.
f) The minimum storage requirements required on all restricted-flow, rural water supply areas.
g) A unit of water as 1m3 or 1000L on all restricted flow supplies (rural water supply areas and urban low-flow restricted extensions).
h) Prevention of waste, liabilities, breach of supply and infringements.
The Tasman District Council Consolidated Bylaw, Chapter 10 – Water Supply Bylaw 2008 has been approved by the Tasman District Council to be publicly notified.
This Water Supply Bylaw 2008 and the Statement of Proposal is now available for viewing during normal Council office hours at the following Council offices and libraries:
