Council Phone Survey Seeks Public Feedback Friday 20 June 2008
Tasman District Council is giving its residents a chance to voice their opinion about Council’s activities and facilities. As part of Council’s ongoing commitment to actively seek public opinion and involvement, a random selection phone survey will be carried out by the National Research Bureau (NRB), an independent market research company.
NBR will phone randomly selected residents of Tasman District and ask their opinions on a wide range issues relevant to the Council and on the services it delivers to its residents. “We do hope people will take this opportunity to let us know what they think - it is their chance to have a say,” said Susan Edwards, Council’s Strategic Development Manager.
Mayor Richard Kempthorne said that Council has a responsibility to measure its effectiveness from a resident’s point of view, and that impartiality will be assured by having the survey undertaken by an independent party.
“Council wants to have a clear understanding of residents' opinions and their views on how well the Council is performing. We appreciate hearing from our community - this is an opportunity for those we don't usually hear from to have their say," said Mayor Kempthorne.
The last such survey was carried out in 2005, but it will be an annual event from now on. The survey is expected to take around 20 minutes to complete and Council hopes that residents will take this opportunity to give their much-valued feedback.
Phone
interviews for the survey begin on Friday 27 June, and are expected to be completed by Sunday 6 July.
