Tasman District Council has just released its Draft Annual Plan for 2007/2008.The plan focuses on year two of Council’s Long Term Council Community Plan (LTCCP). It outlines the proposed rating structure along with the major projects, activities and levels of service planned across the district
The key issues and responses identified in the LTCCP - managing growth and the demand for land, paying for it all, maintaining environmental standards and managing scarce resources, social and cultural change, changing political and legislative environment – continue to drive the Annual Plan process. It also includes information about the consultative process for using funds from the Port Company share buy-back.
Copies of the plan are available from Council offices, libraries and from the Council website: www.tasman.govt.nz.
Public meetings will be held around the region to present an overview of the contents of the Draft Annual Plan. These meetings will be attended by the Mayor, Councillors and Council staff. The meetings provide an opportunity for residents and ratepayers to discuss the plan and any other Council-related issues.

Council is strongly urging people to attend one of the public meetings. Residents and ratepayers are also invited to make a submission. These will be considered before the final Plan is adopted.
Submissions on the Draft Annual Plan close on 18 May 2007.
Submissions on the Port Company shares close on 22 June 2007.
