Draft Earthquake-prone, Dangerous and Insanitary Buildings Policy Section 131 of the Building Act 2004 (“the Act”) requires all territorial authorities (“TAs”) to adopt a policy on earthquake-prone, dangerous, and insanitary buildings by 31 May 2006.
This policy must be adopted in accordance with section 83 and 89 of the Local Government Act 2002. Section 83 sets out the special consultative procedure, particularly the requirement as to the preparation of a Statement of Proposal, and section 89 sets out the requirements for a Summary of Information, both of which are prepared for the purposes of public consultation.
