The Tasman and Nelson Environmental Awards recognise individuals, community groups, businesses, farmers, and schools, who have demonstrated the use of good environmental practice in their tasks.

Environmental Monitoring and Information
Council is the main environmental monitoring agency within the Tasman District. It produced a written report in 2000 (called 'Environment Today!') covering all the areas of environmental monitoring that it is responsible for. Over the coming two years we will be rolling out updates of this information directly to the website.

Forestry
Council's forests are: Kingsland Forest - Richmond Hills; Rabbit Island (Moturoa); Borlase Forest - Motupiko; Tunnicliff Forest - Wai-iti; Sherry River Forest -Sherry River; and the Howard Forest - Howard Valley. Funding
One of the objectives listed in Tasman District Council's mission statement is to enhance community development and the natural, cultural and recreational assets relating to Tasman District.
One of the ways that Council sets out to achieve part of this objective is to administer a number of community grants schemes, scholarships and awards.
