Ecofest Home Tours 2008
Planning is now under way for the Ecofest home tours for this year. These extremely popular tours are a long-established item in the buildup to the Ecofest Expo. This year the home tours will be held on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 August.

Ecofest organisers are seeking a wide range of homes that use passive solar design and environmentally-friendly building techniques to include in the tours. They can range from old homes that have been renovated and future-proofed, to brand new homes, and those made from natural materials.

Homes are not expected to be picture perfect! The intention is simply that a home has a number of environmentally-friendly features and will serve to educate people as to options available for the home and inspire them to think outside the square.

Energy reduction and alternative power, water conservation, recycled products and natural materials are all examples of the type of features organisers are looking for. If you live in the Nelson, Waimea or Motueka area and would like to share your environmentally-friendly home and experiences with others, we want to hear from you.

Ecofest is a joint project between Tasman District Council and Nelson City Council, aimed at making it easier for the general public to be green. This year the Ecofest Expo will be held on the weekend of 16 and 17 August.
