Communications Advisor
 
This is a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced and tertiary qualified person seeking a hands-on communications / public relations role. The primary responsibilities are to develop, maintain and enhance communications to our residents, staff and elected members, in conjunction with Council’s contracted communication supplier; and to provide expert guidance and advice on communication strategies and activities.

Reporting to the Corporate Services Manager this new full time position has an attractive salary, plus benefits and assistance with relocation is available.

You will have strong interpersonal skills with the ability and motivation to deliver outstanding results plus:-

• Tertiary qualification in Communications, Public Relations or relevant field
• At least four years experience in similar communications or public relations positions
• An understanding of Local Government and/or political work environments
• Superb writing, social marketing, media liason and presentation skills
• Ability to think on your feet, multi task and use your initiative
• Ability to speak confidently at Council and public meetings, and to build relationships with internal and external stakeholder groups

Library Assistant 0.5 FTE - Fixed Term (6 Months)
 
We have a fixed term part time position (20 hours per week), available to join a team providing a customer-focused library service to the Tasman District community. Based in the Motueka Public Library, the successful applicant will provide additional resources while the District Library is being refurbished. You will assist with service provision at the Library’s main issue counter, other library tasks, and be available to work additional hours as required.

You will have a warm and friendly manner, excellent team skills and outstanding customer service and:-

• Are a positive team player and enjoy working with people
• Have competent computer and internet skills
• Have attention to detail and the ability to learn quickly
• Are available to work during school holidays, some evenings and every Saturday morning

Administration Officer - Building Control
 
Are you a friendly and professional person committed to providing excellent customer service?

We are looking to appoint a full time team member to join our Building Control team. Based in Richmond the purpose of the position is to provide competent and timely administration services in relation to building consent procedures.

The successful appointee will be a good communicator (oral and written), self motivated, organised, customer service focused, methodical, able to relate to a wide range of people, be computer literate, able to work under minimum supervision and tight time constraints. Prior experience or knowledge of building processes or local authority administration is desirable.

Assistant Librarian - Collections Services
 
We have been promoting again and now have a full time position available working as part of our library Collection Services team serving the Tasman District community. We are seeking a person with a warm and friendly manner, great communication skills, and who has a strong interest in the developing digital environment. The position is based at the District Library in Richmond.

We would like to hear from you if you have:-

• Experience and knowledge of specialised library cataloguing (RDA, AACR, DDC)
• A relevant library or information studies qualification
• Experience in acquisition processes and procedures
• Expertise with, or interest in, Library Management Systems

The position is primarily responsible for professional cataloguing of library material, and authority file maintenance, as well as library system maintenance and troubleshooting in the absence of the Digital Services Librarian.
