Tasman District Council Public Notices are published in Newsline the Mag and the Newsline Updated in community papers the Motueka Guardian, the Golden Bay Weekly and the Waimea Weekly, as well as in the Nelson Mail.





Waimea Estuary Project – request for residents input
 
Tasman District Council and Nelson City Council are starting a joint project to look at future management of the Waimea Estuary and would like to hear from residents on what the estuary means to you and people in your community, what you value about it and what you would like the estuary to look like in years to come.

Tasman Councillors Glenys Glover, Judene Edgar and Stuart Bryant, along with Nelson Councillors Rachel Reese, Ian Barker and Derek Shaw will oversee the project.

“Open day” sessions will be held on: Thursday 19 November 2009 at Monaco Boat Club from 3.30 pm to 7.30 pm and Friday 20 November 2009 at Mapua Boat Club from 12.30 pm to 5.30 pm.

Further opportunities for public involvement are being planned and will be publicised when confirmed.

River Maintenance
 
Subject to Resource Consent NN000425 Tasman District Council’s Rivers Maintenance Contractor, Ferguson Bros Ltd, will be undertaking chemical spraying to control the growth of vegetation along riverbanks and fairway areas at the following locations:

• Takaka River - from Paynes Ford to 5 km upstream of Lindsay’s Bridge. (Starting at RD 0.200 – end RD 19.000)
• Anatoki River - from the confluence with Takaka River upstream for 6 km.
• Waingaro River - from the confluence with Takaka River upstream for 6 km.
• Aorere River - between Ferntown Bridge and Rockville.
• Kaituna River - from the confluence with Aorere River upstream for 6 km.
• Upper Motueka River - between Wangapeka River and 3 km upstream of SH6 Bridge at Kokatu.
• Lower Motueka River – from 1km downstream of SH 60 Bridge to Alexander Bluff Bridge.
• Riwaka River - 2 km either side of State Highway 60 bridge.
• Waimea River - from the Appleby Bridge to 1.2 kilometres upstream of the SH 6 Wairoa Bridge.
• Brooklyn Stream – RD 0.400 – 2.500
• Dove River – RD 1.250 – 4.050
• Eves Valley Stream - RD 0.750 – 10.000
• Little Sydney Stream – RD 2.460 – 3.850
• Redwood Valley Overflow – RD 0.000 – 0.550
• Redwood Valley Stream – RD 0.430 – 3.400
• Scott’s Drain – RD 1.560 – 2.700
• Tadmor River – RD 0.250 – 11.370
• Wai-iti River – RD 0.150 – 1.800


Spraying operations will be carried out during the months of November 2009 to April 2010 in accordance with the conditions of Resource Consent NN925531.

Pattie Street, Port Motueka
 
With the completion of the extension of Massey Street through to Everett Street at Port Motueka, notice is hereby given in accordance with the requirements of Clause 8 of Schedule 10 of the Local Government Act 1974, that Pattie Street is now stopped and shall hereafter cease to be a road.

Closure of Road to Ordinary Vehicular Traffic
 
Pursuant to the Transport (Vehicle Road Closure) Regulations 1965, notice is hereby given that for the purpose of enabling the Nelson Drag Racing Association to conduct drag racing at the Motueka Aerodrome, the following road will be closed to ordinary vehicular traffic for the periods and times indicated hereunder. Any person objecting to the proposal is called upon to lodge notice of the objection before Wednesday 2 December 2009 to the office of the Tasman District Council, 189 Queen Street, Richmond.

Proposed Road to be closed to Ordinary Vehicular Traffic and Periods of Closure:

Queen Victoria Street, from King Edward Street to Green Lane

Kumeras / Ruamanukau Walkway
 
(between the end of Staples Street and Motueka Quay, Motueka).
For the purpose of walkway repairs the walkway may at times be closed between 18 October to 19 November 2009. Please look out for signage which will advise when the walkway is closed.



Motorcycle / Scooter training and skills courses
 
Further motorcycle / scooter courses are being run now the weather has warmed up.
The next courses will take place on:

• Saturday 21 November 2009 (beginner / intermediate)
• Sunday 22 November 2009 (advanced)

These courses are suitable for riders of all ages and experiences and on all types of bikes or scooters. From students scootering to school to those who are getting back on a bike after a few years there will tips and advice on cornering, emergency braking, hazard detection and avoidance, understanding the limitations of your and your bike and lots more. The course is a mix of practical and theory learning so there is plenty of opportunity for riders to practice the skills they have learnt.

The courses run from 9.00am – 4.30pm and are held at ENZA on Nayland Road with each course costing $70 (or $35 with valid student ID / community services card). Riders will need to bring their own bike and must hold an appropriate license for this bike.

Navigation Safety Bylaw: Temporary Reservation and speed-limit uplifting for Waka Ama Events at Kaiteriteri
 
The Motueka Waka Ama Club has applied to Tasman District Council to run an event within the Kaiteriteri area on Friday 13th November 2009 and Saturday 14th November 2009.

The planned events will have competing craft and support vessels passing through and occupying the Kaiteriteri swimming and water-ski areas at the start and finish of each event.

Pursuant to the provisions contained in the Navigation Safety Bylaw, the Tasman District Council’s Harbourmaster has granted a temporary reservation of the Kaiteriteri swimming and water-ski areas for the purposes of running the waka events, between the hours of 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday 13th November and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday the 14th November. The effect of the temporary reservation will be to prevent other activities including water skiing or swimming from occurring within that area for the times specified. An uplift of the 5 knot speed restrictions has also been granted to waka and support vessels directly involved in the event between Kaiteriteri Bay and Guilbert Point, including Fisherman Island but excluding Otuwhero Inlet.

A number of conditions have been imposed on the organisers of the event. These conditions may be viewed by contacting the Motueka Waka Ama Club, or Tasman District Council’s Harbourmaster on 03 543 8400 during office hours.

Ruby Bay Road Closures
 
Pursuant to the Transport (Vehicle Road Closure) Regulations 1965, notice is hereby given that for the purpose of allowing Downer EDi Works to complete the Ruby Bay Bypass project, the following roads will be closed to ordinary vehicular traffic for the periods and times indicated hereunder.

Proposed roads to be closed to ordinary vehicular traffic
• 250 metres west of the intersection of Dicker Road at Old Coach Road just adjacent to the Tasman District Council water tanks.
• A temporary security gate and construction signage will be installed just north of the intersection of Dicker Road and Old Coach Road (just beyond the Mahana Homestay residence).
• A temporary security gate and construction signage will be installed just south of the intersection of Old Coach Road at Harley Road.
• A temporary security gate and construction signage will be installed just east of the intersection of Flaxmore Road at Hewetsons Road.
• A temporary security gate and construction signage will be installed at the intersection of Dicker Road at Williams Road.

• Apple Valley Road at the intersection of the Coastal Highway (State Highway 60).

Period of closure
Friday 17 April 2009 to 31 December 2010

The Tasman District Council gives notice under Section 28 of the Local Government (Rating) Act 2002 that the Rating Information Database of the Tasman District Council is available for inspection (without fee) at the Main Office of the Tasman District Council, 189 Queen Street, Richmond during ordinary office hours (Monday to Friday, 8.30 am – 5.00 pm).

The Rating Information Database can also be accessed here. Enter the property street address to view the current year’s rating information then click on Next Year-2008/09 to view the estimated rates for 2008/09 rating year.

The Rating Information Database contains a record of all information required for the setting and assessing of rates and that is necessary for communicating with ratepayers.

Please note that, pursuant to the provisions of the Local Government (Rating) Act 2002, the names of owners and ratepayers must not be included in the Rating Information Database.
