Representation Review
Representation Review for 2007 elections complete

4 April 2007

The Local Governemt Commission has announced its decision on representation arrangements for Tasman District Council for the 2007 local elections.
After considering appeals and objections against the Council’s proposal, the Commission has decided that the Council will comprise a Mayor and 13 Councillors.

Richmond Ward - 4 Councillors
Moutere-Waimea Ward - 3 Councillors
Lakes/Murchison Ward - 1 Councillor
Motueka Ward - 3 Councillors
Golden Bay Ward - 2 Councillors

The Motueka and Golden Bay Community Boards will be retained.
Communty Boards will comprise four elected members and two councillors.

The Commission’s decision differs from the Council’s final proposal in the following ways:

The Wai-Iti area and areas south of Wai-Iti will be included in the Lakes/Murchison Ward; and
The Motueka and Golden Bay Community Boards will be retained rather than abolished, as the Council proposed.
