Calling all schools: ready to take up the May Zero Waste Challenge? 8 April 2009
In May this year, Waste Education Services are organising a Zero Waste Challenge for all schools in Nelson and Tasman. The aim of this challenge is to encourage schools to move forward in their waste minimisation journey, with a focus on REDUCING waste, and also to celebrate the positive steps schools are making.
Help your school save money by entering the Zero Waste Schools Challenge in Term 2 2009 and be in to win in more ways than one! A chance to revitalise your schools REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE programme or take the next step towards creating a more sustainable school. Recognising that all schools are at different stages along the journey to zero waste, the challenge is open to all schools in Tasman and Nelson. One entry per school.
“Let's NOT waste the month of May!”
This event is sponsored by Nelson City Council and Tasman District Council in association with Nelson Environment Centre, and generously supported by Bunnings.
Prizes will be awarded for:
• the school that makes the most progress along the road to zero waste
• the school that is closest to achieving zero waste
• the wackiest idea for waste minimisation
• the school with the largest percentage of pupils involved
Spot prizes kindly donated by the Warehouse will also be awarded for individual projects that are running really well.
Prizes will include a worm farm, compost bin, a voucher from the warehouse worth $50, gardening equipment, recycle bins and more.
